A Letter from the Candidate...
Hello. My name is Tim Ford. I am seeking a seat on the Court of
Appeals, Division II and I would appreciate your vote.
I decided to run for the Court of Appeals
because I believe the courts must be accountable to the people
they serve. Judges
are expected to apply the laws as written, and to follow the
constitution. I pledge to be hold individuals and government
legally accountable while safeguarding individual rights and the
public interest protected by law.
I am challenging the incumbent because I
believe her record on protecting individual rights and holding
government accountable is weak.
She has voted to protect government at the expense of
individuals in cases involving eminent domain, the right of a
home owner to cut trees on their property and the right of
parents to see a video of their child being bullied on a school
bus. She has also
voted for not requiring sex offenders to register with county
sheriffs if the sex offender did not live in a home.
My judicial philosophy is plain.
Judges should apply existing law without bias, and follow
the constitution.
Courts must protect individual rights guaranteed by law, and
hold individuals accountable where they violate the law.
Government serves the public interest and must be held
accountable by courts.
My experience is well suited to the Court
of Appeals. In the
Washington State Office of the Attorney General, I was appointed
Deputy Solicitor General and assisted with large variety of
appellate cases at the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.
Last year I was appointed as the Assistant Attorney
General for Government Accountability, and am an advocate for
open government providing assistance to agencies and the public
on open government issues.
Prior to my work in the Attorney General’s Office I filed
appellate briefs in private practice on constitutional issues.
I have broad life experience and served as a Lieutenant
in the US Navy as a helicopter pilot.
My wife and I live with our daughter in the Olympia area.
I am supported by the WA State Farm Bureau,
Justice Richard Sanders, Retired Chief Justice James Anderson,
Pierce County Prosecutor Gerry Horne, Port of Olympia
Commissioner Paul Telford, and many others.
